As a medical scientist I am sometimes asked if a treatment choice is reasonable usually with the choice given as between continuing to fight or to give in to defeat.
There is a certain tyranny in modern medicine
based on the assumption
That life longer is both
better and preferred.
And, as a consequence,
persons are subjected to
increasingly invasive techniques
and procedures and targeted toxins,
each underpinned by hypotheses more
and more tenuously grounded in fact
And always accompanied by a complete inability or refusal
to comprehend or even consider that being alive
is of itself an insufficient reason for living,
