The explosions of
wild cherry blossoms
Cascading before me
Like an artillery barrage
Spread down the creek bed
Flung up within the bare branches
Green tinged in early spring
Each burst a reminder
Of the unintentional beauty
Of creation let loose
Each bursting from a shell
Laid down so many years ago
An unintended consequence
Of an act of hope, of faith
Surviving another cruel winter
Silently defeating fear yet again.
