I was at a basketball game when a young girl passed by with her family and for a moment in time she seemed almost perfect in her innocence.
I saw her there
A brief glimpse of youth
Poised on the precipice
of perfection
A promise that could
never be kept
Not frozen
but captive
to an innocence
every sense in tune
a harmony too fragile
to be true
But in that slight moment,
before the jaundice
of the inevitable slide,
a delight in my mind
